Emergency boiler engineers covering the UK
Gas Safe registered, REFCOM certified and City & Guilds trained. On call 24 hours a day for breakdown repairs, replacements, safety checks and temporary boiler installation.

Boiler down? Emergency hire seven days a week, 365 days a year.
0800 644 6240The people who quote the job are the people who do it
Every boiler we hire out is delivered, connected and commissioned by our own engineering team. We do not subcontract installation, which is why we can commit to a response time and then hold to it.
The same team handles breakdown repairs, replacements and statutory safety checks on permanent plant, whether or not a hire unit is involved. If a repair is quick, we repair it. If the plant is beyond economic repair, a temporary boiler keeps the building running while the replacement is specified and fitted.
Every project comes with method statements and risk assessments as standard, and the work is carried out to current national safety standards.

Boiler engineering, on site and out of hours
A single team covering the emergency call-out, the temporary hire and the permanent fix.
Emergency breakdown repairs
Leaks, lockouts, ignition faults, pump failures and circulation problems, attended and diagnosed on the first visit wherever possible.
Temporary boiler installation
Delivery, connection, filling, venting and commissioning of hire units, then disconnection and collection when the permanent plant returns.
Boiler replacement
Where plant is beyond economic repair, a full replacement specified and fitted, with a hire unit covering the gap so the building stays warm.
Safety checks and analysis
Statutory checks, combustion analysis and system reports, issued with method statements and risk assessments.
Plant room works
Pipework modification, pumps, headers, plate heat exchangers and calorifiers, carried out alongside the hire where the system needs it.
Planned maintenance
Servicing that catches lockouts, scaling and circulation faults before they become a January breakdown.
Qualified, registered and accountable
Certificates are available on request for your compliance or procurement file. Ask when you enquire and we will send them the same day.
What happens when you ring at 2am
You reach an engineer
Not an answering service. Someone who can ask the right questions about what the plant is doing.
We triage on the phone
Some faults are resolved over the phone by your own maintenance team, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.
We attend
If it needs a visit, we attend. If it needs a hire unit as well, both are arranged on the same call.
We report
You get a written record of the fault, the work done and what the plant needs next, rather than a verbal handover.
One team, hire and permanent works
Nationwide, from the middle
Stoke-on-Trent sits within a few hours of most of the country, which is why the response times are realistic rather than aspirational.
Commercial and industrial first
Hospitals, factories and local authority buildings are the daily work, not an occasional job alongside domestic boiler swaps.
Hire and repair together
Most emergency callers need heat back today and a plan for next week. We can do both without bringing in a second contractor.
Sister company capability
Mellor & Mottram handles the wider mechanical works, so a temporary fix can turn into a permanent one without changing supplier.
Frequently asked questions about boiler engineers
If yours is not answered here, ring and ask. You will get a straight answer rather than a callback form.
Yes. Every engineer is Gas Safe registered, REFCOM certified and City & Guilds trained, and the company is CHAS accredited and Constructionline registered. Certificates are available on request for your compliance file.
Yes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Ring 01782 274537 at any hour and you will reach an engineer rather than an answering machine.
Both. Where a repair is viable we repair the plant. Where it is not, we can supply a temporary boiler to keep the building running while a replacement is specified and installed. Most emergency callers need both on the same visit.
Yes, as standard for every project rather than on request. They are issued before work starts so your own site team can review them in advance.
We do, though the bulk of our work is commercial, industrial and public sector. For a domestic property the 90kW hire unit is the one normally specified.
Need temporary or emergency boiler hire?
Tell us the site, what has failed and roughly what capacity you think you need. For a genuine emergency, ring rather than fill this in.
